Location : It adjoins the South China Sea for a distance of 208 kilometers. Terengganu and Kelantan bound the State on the north, by Perak in the west and by Selangor and Negeri Sembilan to the southwest. Johor forms the State's southern boundary.
Of the total land area of the state, 48.8% is covered by forest, 23.4% is agricultural land, 16.3% is government land, 10.8% is urban and industrial land, 0.5% is Orang Asli (Aborigine) Reserve and the remaining 0.2% is mining land.
Area : Covers an area of 35,960 sq km, is the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia.
Climate : Tropical climate with warm weather all year round. Temperatures range from 21 Celcius to 32 Celcius. Anual rainfall varies from 2000 mm to 2500 mm.
Time difference : 8H ahead of GMT and 16H ahead of US Pacific Standard Time.

Dress Code : Visitors are reminded to respect the local culture and to be properly attired when in public. Visitors are requested to avoid walking in public (town/village) in swimsuit or sunbathe topless or nude.
By Air : Malaysian Airlines operates daily flights between the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport in Kuantan. The journey takes about 40 minutes.
By Road :
Self-drive by car - Kuantan is situated about 260 km from Kuala Lumpur and 325 km from Johor Bahru in the south of the peninsula. There is a good road link from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Kota Bharu in Kelantan to Pahang. Kuantan is a 3 1/2-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur via the East Coast Highway.
Taxis - Taxis to Kuantan are available at Puduraya Terminal in Kuala Lumpur.
Express Coaches - Express air-conditioned buses to Kuantan are available from the Puduraya Bus Terminal in Kuala Lumpur.
By Rail : Pahang is accessible through Mentakab and Kuala Lipis from Kuala Lumpur and Kota Bharu.

By Air : Berjaya Air Sdn. Bhd. provides regular daily flight from Kuala Lumpur (Subang Airport) and Singapore (Seletar Airport). From the Tioman Airport, you can take sea buses or we can pick up you from there.
By Road :
Self-drive by car - From Kuala Lumpur, take North-South Highway, head south towards Johore ( from KL or North ). Exit at Ayer Hitam ( after Yong Peng ) junction and turn to Kluang. If you're traveling from Singapore or Johor Bahru, head north. Follow signs to Mersing or Route 3. Approximate traveling time : 4 hrs from KL and Singapore, 3 hrs from Johor Bahru.
From Terengganu/Kuantan, Take Route 3 (coastal road), heading south towards Mersing. Approximate traveling time from Kuantan, 3 hours.
Express Coaches - Buses from Johor Bahru to Mersing depart from Larkin Bus Terminal while in Kuala Lumpur, buses depart from the Pudu Raya. You may also get a bus to Mersing from various bus terminal in every states of the Peninsular Malaysia. All buses will stop at the R&R Mersing which is about 2 minutes walk to the jetty to Tioman Island.
By Ferry :
The journey takes only 2 hours by Fast Ferry or 1.5 hours by Speed Boat from Mersing. Regular daily ferry and speed boat are available from 7am to 7pm daily
